Just received the pro before a biz trip to Japan. I’ve been using the wired version for a year now and very happy, except having to sit in a window seat and use an apple extender cable to place the receiver under the window shade. It’s hard to be incognito that way.
The pro version changed all that! I put it in the seat back pouch next to the window and wirelessly enjoyed gps the whole flight without drawing any attention. It works seamlessly with Foreflight, AirTrack and Air Nav Pro. What a great product. Plenty of battery and memory to log a 12 hour trans-pacific flight. My round trip only used 20% of the catalog memory. GPS Receiver sensitivity is excellent and has very fast fix acquire time.
Any plans to make this work with android or PC via Bluetooth? Tried, but the device wasn’t recognized on either and the Bluetooth connection dropped. Such a SW change would truly make it a universal device!
I also noticed on the app info page the notation that my device indicates ‘internal antenna’. Is there a means to connect an external antenna? That would be useful for me in other applications.
On my wired version device, the app lets me set the update rate and that has significant improvements to the performance of some of the navigation apps. This feature doesn’t seem to be available on the pro device or the app when controlling the pro. Could you please consider providing this important feature?
Thanks for two well designed products!
Got my “pro” last Friday (08/31/2012) and absolutely love it. It’s acquire time is very low (beats my Garmin dedicated GPS and is slightly faster than the Bad Elf plug in) and syncs up seamlessly with my iPad2. Accuracy is excellent and the information provided in the display appropriate and very usable.
Paired with the Bad Elf App (available on iTunes and required) it provides a very comprehensive GPS experience.
I tested it with navFree(USA) and Motion-X GPS-hd and downloaded tracking files to my desktop computer to display in Garmin’s MapSource software.
Thanks Bad Elf for a another great product!!
