Yes – both the GPS Pro (Bluetooth) and GPS dongle (30-pin) work great with the iPad 1 and Garmin Pilot. But you’ll find that most of the aviation app vendors are recommending you use an iPad 2 or newer to take advantage of new features that require a lot of CPU.

Yes! We have a number of people using the Bad Elf GPS (and GPS Pro) for agriculture-related activities. We’re still evaluating the real-world benefits of GLONASS and Galileo for future products. There aren’t a lot of commercial GPS chipsets that support these networks yet, but I’m sure that will change over the next 6-12 months.

Have you considered doing a bad elf with the chip that communicates with GPS, Galileo, Glonass and Compass? It should give excellent precision, I hear they’re using those for automated ploughing machines in agricolture. It would also offer redundancy against outages or other problems.
Glad to hear you’re enjoying the new GPS Pro device! I also had a chance to log some recent trips to Asia and Europe… real-world performance has been great.
At this point we’re only supporting iOS devices via Bluetooth, but have gotten several requests for PC/Mac support as well. There are some iOS things we want to get working better first – such as 10Hz logging/streaming, faster log transfers, etc. Once iOS is in GREAT shape we’ll take another look at supporting other platforms.
